Description:

A cave system over 360 miles long is the highlight of Mammoth Cave National Park, drawing in around 2 million visitors every year. A wide selection of cave tours are available, ranging from gentle trips covering less than a mile to five-mile cave tours requiring crawling through tight spaces and climbing up rock inclines. On these guided cave tours, visitors get the chance to see a variety of unique cave formations, with the sights determined by which tour is chosen. Outside the cave entrance, there are miles of hiking trails that wind through the park's 52,800 above-ground acres. Showcasing the natural beauty of the Kentucky landscape, these trails lead through forests and fields. Some offer access to the Green and Nolin Rivers, which are great for boating, canoeing and fishing. Campgrounds provide many options for overnight stays of various types, and the park is big enough to let its guests see something new and different every time whether the stay is for just a day or for a whole week.
